Training

Each volunteer is asked to become trained and educated in emergency response and medical reserve corps related issues to the level that they are comfortable with.  Two options currently exist for receiving more training.  First, volunteers can attend an in person training.  Information about these trainings can be found in our Upcoming Events page.  Second, volunteers can participate in online training.  Our online training section provides links to several websites where advanced training is available.  In order to retain volunteer liability coverage, the Ohio Department of Health requires at least one training be taken every three years.

MRC-TRAIN Online Training Catalog and Training Management System

The MRC-TRAIN website provides a list of trainings available to MRC participants.  Once an account has been created for the site, volunteers can register for online and in person trainings from across the country.  This website is a very useful tool for locating training opportunities, and is free to use.  If you have any problems with the system, call 202-218-4426 for technical support.

Online FEMA Training

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Institute offers online training courses to first responders, volunteers, and others interested in emergency management training.
