Mission Statement:  The mission of the Regional Epidemiology and Disease Investigators (REDI) committee is to assure that preparedness for, response to, and recovery from weapons of mass destruction, a bioterrorism incident, or major disease outbreak, is based on a comprehensive, coordinated regional strategy.  This strategy should be based on collaboration and preparedness among partners in public health and should increase the capacity for epidemiologic and disease investigation.

Regional Epidemiology / Disease Investigators

The REDI Work Group is a multidisciplinary group of public health professionals, consisting of registered nurses, epidemiologists, physicians, registered sanitarians, and other individuals from local health jurisdictions.

REDI is one of the original groups developed for the region, and is dedicated to continuing to provide a forum for regional and local improvement in epidemiology and disease investigation, without decreasing the quality of normal day-to-day operations.

Group Overview

REDI has completed regional plans and projects involving epidemiological response, communications, prevention and treatment protocols, laboratory response networks, a public health call center, and disease surveillance protocols.

The group is currently working on biological disease investigation forms and policies, and continues work on developing plans for regional responses to emerging infectious disease outbreaks (SARS, pandemic influenza, etc.).
